Over 60s/Ladies 1, The Cam, Baits Bite, 22nd June 2019

Thanks again to John Pope for organizing the match and also parking behind the lock keeper’s cottage to save our legs. Also, thanks again to the rowers who in general respected the agreement not to use the match length while we were.

For various reasons the number of anglers was down on previous years, it will hopefully be a better turnout for the September match. Nevertheless, there was keen rivalry and one in particular was determined to show that being a pensioner had improved their skills by allowing more practice time!

There were no specimen fish to match the previous week’s 4 lb+ eel from this section, but Trevor Sturge managed to accumulate a decent 14 lb 11 oz of mainly skimmers to win overall. I managed second with just under 5 lb and Rob Turner third with an oz under 4 lb. Despite a late start Anh Ta won the ladies section with a hard earned 6 oz and after appearing asleep for most of the match Trevor O’Dell still weighed in nearly 2 lb.

The next over 60s/ladies match is on SATURDAY 31st August, draw 8:30 by the lock keeper’s cottage at Baits Bite lock. Permission has been given to drive along the towpath and park behind the cottage. Please book a place with John Pope, details as per club book, if you wish to fish.
