The Burwell Lode at Upware

18 hardy club members turned out for our Christmas match despite the severe weather warning!  Heavy rain and gales greeted us fist thing but the luck was with us as the match was held in dry conditions from the start .

Some exceptional weights considering the gale force conditions. Catches were made up of Roach, Rudd, Skimmers and Perch. Caught on a variety of baits. The winner catching mainly on big red maggot.

Thank you to everyone who donated a prize and to the match sponsor, Dave Chandler. Everyone went away with something. Also a big thank you to Trevor Sturge for his continued support in running the matches. On Thursday, having seen the forecast, I telephoned Mr Darler and asked for a favour? His reply was....So you have seen the weather forecast then!! An extra half an hour in bed for me, whilst the poor sod pegged it out in the pouring rain! Still he was awarded a special prize and I'm told he is soon to have presented a clubman's cap for his winning match on the Lode last month. Finally, a very merry Christmas to you all.
