The River Lark at Prickwillow
Early morning was best with bright sunshine across a very frosty fen -4 in
fact. the cold did not deter 12 hardy clubmen, mind you if they had known
that later on freezing fog would descend upon us with freezing rod rings
things might have been different. This was a no pressure match as no
points are at stake and so the river could be attacked and so some quality
fish were caught. Best fish was a fine 3lb perch caught by Liam
Darler. There were other decent perch caught and some Hemp roach.
Main baits that produced were maggot and pinkie with punch scoring less
well in the coloured water. |

Liam worked
hard all day putting together a catch of mainly small roach but still
managed to adjust tactic to snare a lovely 3lb perch. Biggest cheer and
laughter went to me! no not because of my fine catch of roach but
when I tumbled down the steep bank almost knocking Dave Seal into the ice
cold water as I went to weigh him in. I bust up the scale bag as I
landed covered in mud on my back. A cruel person... Mr Darler,
declared that we should warn the residents of Soham not to worry about a
tremor they might experience tomorrow as the shock waves progress across
the fen from my unfortunate fall.
