A
View From The Fen
I think it is about time that I informed you of how
things are going at Block Fen. The
biggest change is there is now a management team in place.
When I was elected as Fisheries Manager I said that I would like
some help to which I received the reply was “you are the manager sort
it!”
The team consists of myself as manager, Ray Tyler as
Deputy Manager and three bailiffs, Roger Day, Will Drury and Marc
Langham. All good men and
true.
The lake is not fishing as well as it could be at
the moment due to the topsy-turvy weather we are having. The fishing is not brilliant any where at the moment mind you
things should improve as a tropical heat wave is forecast for July and
August with temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit expected.
I have to say that there has been a double rise in
figures in the number of fish being caught.
So far a 19lb Mirror Carp has been caught in Pit A, an 18lb. In
the pump pond and a 30lb 40z caught in Pit B.
Several 5lb bream have also been caught and the Tench are
beginning to show in the pump pond.
On Monday 6th June I called a working
party in the evening and I would like to thank those that turned up
namely, Sol for all his hard work, to Deejay who borrowed a pair of
waders and put them to good use all evening, to Ray for his hard
efforts; Roger and his tree saw and Norman who made sure Roger did not
slack in his work. To Dave and his hedge trimmer and Liam who carried the
trimmer guard and last but not least El Presidenti Graham, for his
tremendous work he did under my supervision.
I have to say Thank You Graham
for what you did. I know
that you were well pleased with our efforts as you drove off site with
your arm out the window held high giving the “V” for Victory salute.
Another session like that Graham, and I will have you fully
trained in clearing swims.
I think it is time for me to put my helmet on and
get my head down for I have the feeling that there may be some flack
coming my way. It’s been
nice talking to you all and I hope you will pay us a visit some time you
will be very welcome.
Tight lines,
Peter
