Cambridge FPAS
Ltd. Annual General Meeting
Wednesday 2nd May 2007
At: The Harris Suite, The
Abbey Stadium
Approximately 50 people attended
Wednesday nights meeting held for the fourth year running, at the Abbey
Stadium, home of Cambridge United Football Club.
CFPAS Chairman, Lacy Anderson,
welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Graham Tweed, CFPAS President presented this years Directors Report and
and took the opportunity to look at what has been achieved over the past
season and our plans for the future.
PRESIDENT’S/DIRECTOR’S REPORT 2007
Welcome to you
all. I hope you find this evening enjoyable and that you take the
opportunity to meet with fellow colleagues.
My report gives an
overview of the past season and our plans for the future.
During the last
year sadly two colleagues passed away Percy Anderson Life-Vice President
and Peter Dickinson Vice-president.
These two larger
than life characters are sorely missed and I think it will take us another
year to put in place things that will once again take us forward in regard
to our Junior Section and over at Block Fen.
We continue to see
fluctuations in our membership, up one year, down the next with factors
such as the weather, river conditions, and even major sporting events
affecting how we do each year. I do not see this situation changing,
what we need to ensure is that we don’t get complacent, we must continue
to promote ourselves to new people coming in to the region.
Our Plans For The
Coming Season
We have not
increased any membership charges this season believing that the increase
in the 2006/07 Season will have a greater impact this year. We
intend to review our position for the 2008/09 Season as clearly we need to
keep in step with increasing costs.
CLUB MARK
I am delighted to
advise that CFPAS LTD is very close to being awarded accreditation for
Club Mark only the sixth Angling Club in the County to be awarded this
status.
Club Mark is a
Cross Sport Quality Accreditation for Clubs with Junior Sections.
There are currently around 2,500 Accredited Clubs across 25 sports.
The Club’s
portfolio of evidence was submitted to The National federation Of Anglers
in March and included such things as our policies and procedures in regard
to our Junior Angling Events, Risk Assessments, Training and Coaching
Programmes, evidence of our Child Protection Procedures. A huge
effort and one I wish to particularly thank the help of Alison Revell,
John Pope, Will Temple and my family.
Training

advise that the following colleagues have successfully completed courses.

The 2006/07 Season
saw us in our third year of offering an application form on the website
for our Season Permits.
This method of
obtaining our Season Permits has steadily increased over the years and
doubled last year.
In Conclusion
Despite some
setbacks your Club is making steady progress and remains in the forefront
in Angling Clubs in Cambridgeshire.
The Environment
Agency has recognised that we are one of the few Clubs in the region with
the current capability to achieve Club Mark Status. Their agenda is
to help at least one Club a year achieve this status over the next 5
years.
We shall seek new
opportunities to acquire fisheries and to secure sponsorship for our
activities.
I wish to take
this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and support.
Please do take this opportunity to speak with officers of your Club.
