Mepal Block Fen A

Sunday 5th August 2007

On probably the hottest Sunday of the year you would wonder whether the fish in Block Fen would fancy basking at the top of the water... and that's what they appeared to do as a whopping 46 pounds won this penultimate summer season match under the guiding hand of Craig Rayner.

At more than double the other catches it was definitely Craig's lucky day landing such a haul of Carp as, once, again he demonstrated the importance of practice in working out a waggler attack high up in the water at distance catching 8 carp and a bream for a magnificent catch on this natural stock water.

Ray and Liam battled it out catching two carp each with Rays just shading it.  I don't know what Ian caught as he is very secretive. Just to be different I caught all my fish on the waggler but they were only up to 5oz.  Roach Rudd and Perch, I lost three big Carp but so did most people.  Its all getting a bit serious even though it looks like Craig has rapped up the summer series. Still at least I was not away with the fairies unlike my last match.
