The Burwell Lode - The Anchor PH Burwell

Sunday 9th November 2008

Someone said to me the other day how come the majority of our winter matches are held in the autumn and not the proper winter! Well this match was the reason why! It is very difficult to get a fair venue when conditions play a major part. We found the lode in an uncompromising mood with the fish tightly shoaled where there was some colour in the water. Fish migrate a lot in the winter months and this is what we found when we arrived on Sunday.

Congratulations to the anglers that caught not only did we have to contend with clear water and a gale but also huge rafts of leaves.

Catchers were made up of roach and skimmers. Ken was so pleased to have captured a pair of eyes it was that small you could see its heart beat!

I reckon it only had one eye and must have been swimming round and round in stead of following the rest of its mates!
