CFPAS OPEN DAY

SUNDAY  20th JULY 2008

MILTON COUNTRY PARK

Over 50 people enjoyed coaching sessions at the first of our Open Days held at Milton Country Park on this lovely summer day.

A few drops of rain didn't dampen the spirit as children and adults alike received 30 minute coaching sessions coached by our 4 Level 2 Angling Coaches, Graham Tweed, John Pope, Will Temple and Alan Brown.  In many instances this was their first attempt at fishing and it was great to see that no one went away without catching at least three fish a piece... mainly small roach and rudd but fish none the less.

The day was a great success with the patience and organisation of John Pope who had received great support and sponsorship from the Environment Agency, local tackle and bait suppliers to the extent that all people booked in for coaching received a free 4 metres whip, a "First Time Angling" certificate, bait boxes, floats, plumb bobs, hooks, line, stickers and the enthusiasm to be hooked into angling for years to come.

The day was a tremendous success and we have been asked when the next event is going to be organised...so watch this space...

CFPAS Ltd. would especially like to thank the following people

Paul Wilkanowski and the  Environment Agency Fisheries Team who demonstrated pond dipping and answered general questions around fishing and the types of fish found in local lakes as well as having a stand with informative illustrations of the natural environment.

The bar-b-que manned by Sarah Thomas and friend who fed "tweedy" burgers and hot dogs to all the participants as well as to the many visitors at the country park.

Roy and Sharon who did a fine job of organising and allotting time slots to those being coached as well as distributing the free goody bags and certificates to all participants.
