CFPAS AGM

WEDNESDAY 7th MAY 2008

HARRIS SUITE - CAMBRIDGE UNITED F.C.

Approximately 50 people attended Wednesday nights meeting held for the fifth year running, at the Abbey Stadium, home of Cambridge United Football Club.

CFPAS Chairman, Lacy Anderson, welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Graham Tweed, CFPAS President presented this years Directors Report and and took the opportunity to look at what has been achieved over the past season and our plans for the future.

PRESIDENT’S/DIRECTOR’S REPORT 2008

Welcome to you all, yet another season has passed by.  I hope you find this evening enjoyable and that you take the opportunity to meet with fellow colleagues.

My report gives an overview of the past season and our plans for the future.

During the last year a fellow Angler, Tony Phillips, sadly passed away.  Tony fished for us in quite a few Nationals and was for many years a Committee Member.  Always ready for a joke he will be missed by us all.

Despite the weather not being so good last summer we have enjoyed an increase in membership which is really positive.

Our Plans For The Coming Season

We have not increased any membership charges this season believing that the increase in the 2009/2010 Season  as clearly we need to keep in step with increasing costs but we will continue to be as efficient and cost conscious as possible.

CLUB MARK

I am delighted to advise that CFPAS LTD was awarded accreditation for Club Mark only the seventh Angling Club in the Country to be awarded this status.

Club Mark is a Cross Sport Quality Accreditation for Clubs with Junior Sections.  There are currently around 2,500 Accredited Clubs across 25 sports.

Training

I am pleased to advise that the following colleagues have successfully completed courses.

CFPAS LTD provided two of its coaches at an ‘All Day’ Event in Norwich last season, Will Temple and John Pope.  Along with other coaches from the region hour one-to-one sessions were delivered to newcomers throughout the day.  We plan to provide our own "taster day" at Barnwell Lake this season.

Environment Agency

bullet

The Agency fully sponsored our Level II coaches last year to achieve their Coaching Licences

bullet

The Agency is a co-sponsor for our Level 1 coaches to achieve their certificates

bullet

The Agency introduced CFPAS LTD 100 Crucian Carp to Barnwell Lake, Borrow Pit and Reach Lake.

bullet

The Agency is to provide 80 goody bags including fishing whips and rigs for our Junior Events

Website

The 2006/07 Season saw us in our fourth year of offering an application form on the website for our Season Permits.

This method of obtaining our Season Permits has steadily increased over the years.  We are therefore exploring other ways of making it easier to pay for the permits online.

In Conclusion

Your Club is making steady progress and remains in the forefront in Angling Clubs in Cambridgeshire.  We were successful in tenders for Reach Lake - a lovely little venue adding to our portfolio of mixed fisheries.

The Environment Agency has recognised that we are one of the few Clubs in the region accredited with Club Mark and have been helpful in sponsorship.

We shall seek new opportunities to acquire fisheries and to secure sponsorship for our activities in 2008/2009.  We believe we offer incredible value for money and will do all we can to promote ourselves over the next season.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help and support.  Please do take this opportunity to speak with officers of your Club.
